Stop #5 of the 2014 Australian N1SCO Tour recently took over picturesque Hunter River in Newcastle on April 27, 2014.

The Newcastle Rowing Club proved to be the perfect location for SUP and N1SCO racing! The race arena was located directly in front of the Club providing spectators with an amazing view as every race finished directly in front of their beach tents.

Passing showers and increasing winds hardly affected the enthusiasm of the competitors as they made their way through the 200m, 400m and 2km races in super competitive 4 person heats with progression rounds.

With some of the closest finishes yet, it was clear that Mathew Vandervoort meant business taking out the 200m, 400m and 2km races in the Men’s. Mel Cedelland powered through each of her heats to come through the finals with a notable win in the 200m and the 2km races.

Everyone had an amazing time on the Naish ONE 12’6” inflatables with no lack of laughs, smiles and an all-around awesome day.

Stay tuned for the WA Surf Western Australia leg of the 2014 N1SCO Australian Tour!
