Accommodation (suggestions):

Swanage is a traditional seaside town and because of this in the summer accommodation gets very busy and the resort hits capacity. We have taken a trip around the town to see what is available so we can give you a little guidance. This would be a venue where we would strongly advise booking early, or without doubt you will be unable to get prime accommodation in a central location and be forced to the outskirts to take your chances with a B&B.

Below we have tried to select a varied bunch of accommodation of different varieties that we feel comfortable recommending because of their offering and/or the location;


In the center of town is the Purbeck Hotel and Louisa Lodge. This is a 3 Star Hotel which has the best location of all Hotels in the town for our event. It is a five minute stroll to the event area and there is plenty of parking at the Hotel so you can dump the car for the weekend and avoid hassle. It is central in the town so has easy access to everything.  The Hotel is 70% booked already for this date, but they have agreed to hold the last 10 rooms, which are a mixture of twins, doubles, singles and family rooms until the end of March. To hold the rooms we had to agree to a 3 night stay but if you are only looking for 1 or 2 nights, we suggest calling them and negotiating.


There are two other main Hotels at the other end of the beach making for a 15 minute walk. These are both 3 Star too and a similar price to the Purbeck. These Hotels are The Grand and The Pines. The Grand is booked for a wedding so don’t waste your time. The Pines will only take bookings for a minimum 2 night stay.

Self Catering

Most holiday homes at this time of the year will only accept week long bookings. However there are a couple of lodge/static caravan sites which are pleasant and offer weekend breaks at this time of year.

Swanage Bay View offers self-catering holiday caravans and lodges. It has good facilities and is about a 15 minute walk to the venue or a 3 minute drive. Weekend breaks are available.  https://www.darwinescapes.co.uk/parks/swanage-bay-view-holiday-home-park/

Herston Log Cabins offer a mixture of 4 to 10 berth cabins and are a 5 minute drive from event venue or 30 minute walk. The website shows weekly stays that time of year but we have negotiated weekend breaks but you need to call Liz to get them and mention it is for the Stand Up Paddleboard event. http://www.herstonlogcabins.com/

Here is a selection of the closest sites to the event venue. You will need to drive 5 minutes from each to the event venue or take between a 15 minute and 30 minute walk.

Herston Camp Site offers tent camping, campervan hook ups and self-catering lodges. This is a relaxed camp site where all are welcome. It’s a 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk to the event site. http://www.herstonleisure.com/

Ulwell Cottage Park offers space for tent camping and campervans. They also have modern static caravans for rent. This is a quiet and family orientated campsite so no big partying or loud groups are allowed. Bed & Breakfasts

Swanage, like most UK sea side towns, has a lot of small houses where the owners rent out some rooms and run as Bed & Breakfasts (Pensions). Quality varies a lot but the link below is a good place to look.
